Ireland is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in
tourism, leisure and commerce.

Ireland has the second highest per capita income of any
country in the EU and fourth highest in the world based on
measurements of GDP per capita.

Tourism in Ireland in 2006 attracted 7 million foreign visitors
generating some €6 billion in revenue each year and
employing over 250,000 people. The Irish Government are
committed to refreshing, upgrading and expanding tourism
facilities to meet the ever-changing requirements of tourists.

The €184 billion National Development Plan 2007entitled
'Transforming Ireland - A Better Quality of Life for All includes
a product development and infrastructure sub-programme
of €317m to upgrade and supplement Ireland's tourism
attractions and activities, and to deliver a National
Conference Centre in Dublin.

Work has started on a plan for a €500 million redevelopment
of the former sugar plant at Mallow, north Cork, writes Michelle
McDonagh.It is the single largest integrated project ever
proposed for north Cork. The project will include mixed sport
and recreational amenities on 149 acres, the provision
of a 45-acre wildlife area and the development of over 1,000
residential units

Belfast is now regarded as one of Europe's top city destinations
and is witnessing incredible urban redevelopments. The city's
Titanic Quarter is a GBP3 billion project and is Europe's
largest mixed-use waterfront development. This 185 acre site
includes residential, commercial and leisure facilities, such as,
hotels and serviced accommodation, conference facilities,
nightclubs, restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs and sports facilities.
